What is Energi?
Energi (NRG) is a next-generation proof-of-stake (PoS) cryptocurrency that combines smart contracts, decentralized governance, and a self-funding treasury. Energi was founded by Tommy World Power, who imagined a better, sustainable cryptocurrency that had the potential for mass adoption. The project has since grown to more than 60 team members and 225,000 community members, all working together to create a cryptocurrency for the future.
In April 2018, Tommy World Power launched his vision for a better cryptocurrency. After seeing so many blockchain projects fail to deliver on their promises, Tommy imagined a better, self-sufficient cryptocurrency that had the potential for mass adoption. One adaptable enough to combine the best features of the world’s top cryptocurrencies along with strong leadership.
That’s why Energi’s funding is built into the cryptocurrency. To fuel the growth of the project, a portion of freshly-mined coins is assigned to the Treasury – which is why Energi has never had, and never will have, a pre-mine or ICO. Tommy personally funded the initial development of the project himself, and this approach paid off. Throughout the recent bear market, the Energi project continued to grow and expand its team, while other projects were downsizing and cost-cutting.
Currently, the team is migrating Energi to a Solidity-based smart contract platform that will combine all of Ethereum’s existing capabilities with Energi’s unique governance and treasury model. This evolutionary approach will establish Energi as a dominant cryptocurrency platform, well poised for mass adoption and supported by a team committed to building a cryptocurrency for the future.
