Nxt is an open source cryptocurrency and payment network. First launched in November 2013, NXT uses proof-of-stake to reach consensus for transactions. It has an integrated Asset Exchange, a marketplace and a messaging system. Though NXT was specifically built as a flexible platform for the building of applications and financial services, and so users can also create new currencies from within the system.
