What is Arweave?
AR is the utility token for Arweave, a blockchain based decentralized cloud storage provider allowing users to store files and applications forever. Arweave is a collectively owned hard drive backed by sustainable and perpetual endowments enabling users to remember and preserve valuable information, apps, and history indefinitely and integrate their data to the Permaweb- a global, community-owned internet built upon Arweave that anyone can contribute to or be paid to maintain. Arweave web archive aims to eliminate 404 pages, allowing content to be shared worldwide over extremely long periods of time. The core technology powering Arweave is the blockweave, a specifically designed set of blocks that contain data linking to multiple previous blocks from the network. This data structure allows Araweave to an enforce that miners provide a ‘Proof of Access’ (PoA) to old data in order to add new blocks. The AR token is used to reward miners who share and save data, and for users as payment to store any new data.
